Mechanical Design Engineer

(m/f/d)

Type: Full-Time/Hybrid

Level: Entry-Level, Early Career

 

You will make an impact in the following way: 

  • Concept, design, and development of mechanical components and assemblies, considering cost, safety, and time constraints for new and further developments
  • Creation and evaluation of mechanical design concepts, including effort estimations, risk analyses, and decision-making documentation
  • Procurement/build and verification of prototypes, including functional, load, and environmental testing to ensure required mechanical properties
  • Preparation of manufacturing and assembly drawings, bills of materials, and detailed 3D models using modern CAD tools, including 2D derivations
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with electronics, software, testing, manufacturing, and industrial design teams
  • Creation and maintenance of requirements and design specifications, including derivation of technical requirements from customer or system requirements
  • Support of projects throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept phase to series production
  • Conducting design reviews, FMEA, and tolerance analyses to ensure reliability, functionality, manufacturability, and serviceability
  • Change management for products in series production
  • Participation in feasibility studies, simulations, and thermal or structural calculations
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, e.g., ISO standards, safety and quality standards, and industry-specific guidelines

 

What you will bring: 

  • Education – Degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or a comparable technical field
  • Experience – Ideally, prior experience in the development of electronic enclosures for harsh environments, including IP ratings, shock, and vibration, using processes such as milling, injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal fabrication
  • Knowledge & skills – Very good knowledge of CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor) as well as experience with PDM/PLM/SAP systems (assemblies, parts, cable harnesses, technical fabrication instructions, assembly instructions, item and bill of materials maintenance); knowledge of structural, FEM, or thermal simulations is an advantage, experience in manufacturing and assembly technology, including tolerance management, material selection, and manufacturability assessment
  • Personality – Good communication and teamwork skills with a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Language proficiency – Fluency in English
