Position Summary: Our Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician will repair, maintain, and facilitate installation of industrial machines (Braiders, Cabling, and Extrusion) used in production operations and assist in training any junior Maintenance Technicians. This is an advanced role requiring expertise in troubleshooting, electrical systems, PLCs, and mechanical machinery. Candidates will be tested on their electrical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities as part of the hiring process.

1st shift: 8am – 4:30pm

Pay Range: $25 - 43/hr

 Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Diagnose and solve issues related to PLCs, sensors, motors, VFD’s, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensures proper operation of all equipment and machines, such as power generators, cablers, braiders, extruders, air compressors, pneumatics, and PLCs.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and machine tools for fabrication of parts and machine additions.
  • Works with 480V and lower voltage electrical systems
  • Assists with installation of new or refurbished machinery and machinery upgrades
  • Conducts safety inspections of facilities and machines.
  • Collaborate with production team to identify root causes of equipment down time and long term solutions
  • Create material lists and submit purchase requests for MRO supplies.
  • Train junior level maintenance technicians and inspect the quality of performed maintenance work.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 Required Education/ Abilities:

  • Vocational school or Associate’s degree required
  • At least 5 years of experience with electrical and mechanical maintenance is required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics is required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, and basic computer skills are required.
  • Thorough understanding of safety practices, guidelines, rules, and laws is required.
  • Ability to use/ operate hand tools, power tools, and machine tools is required. Welding, fabrication, lathe and milling machining and additional skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge with PLCs and VFDs is a plus.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to properly inspect and modify large and detailed portions of machinery.
  • Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and relocate machines.

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of ($25-$43 per hour), plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting.
