Job Summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join the accounting team and demonstrate your strong cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting related activities including; ensuring a high degree of accuracy in manufacturing cost and inventory values, preparing accounting or costing reports, processing cost roll-up functions, and actively participating in yearend inventory counts.The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of cost accounting standards, experience applying accounting principles, theories, and concepts to financial transactions in a fast-pace environment. The individual must also have knowledge of Accounts Payable systems, including POs, Month End accruals and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply fundamental accounting theories and concepts to support the cost accounting function
  • Daily reporting on Production, Inventory and Scrap variances
  • Weekly and monthly reporting on various cost and expense accounts 
  • Weekly and monthly update on outstanding Vendor invoices and ensuring accuracy of information
  • Weekly and monthly Vendor account reconciliation
  • Actively involved in Bi-monthly Cycle-count on production inventory
  • Actively involved in Annual and Semi-Annual Plant Physical Inventory Count
  • Month End closing responsibilities including Journal Entries and Account Reconciliations according to GAAP
  • Process weekly payroll
  • Support the budgeting and annual cost roll processes
  • Other finance and administrative duties as required

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2-3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems is an asset, including SAP knowledge
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft office tools
  • Degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field 
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands Ability to work independently with a keen eye for detail 

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $60,400-$90,100 CAD plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
