Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst reports to the Director, Accounting & Payroll Canada. This role will participate in monthly team meetings on site. Major activities include control of the affiliate netting system for the Canadian business and ensuring sales and use tax integrity and reporting completeness. This position is charged with the responsibility to complete routine financial analysis and financial analysis of a special project nature. Considerable contact is made with peers worldwide. The Analyst establishes contacts with financial personnel throughout Belden in order to maintain information flows to accomplish his/her primary job responsibilities. The incumbent ensures that the information used is the most timely and accurate available.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records by auditing feeder systems, preparing general ledger entries, and completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and revaluations.
- Manage intercompany accounting activities including preparing advices and invoices, reconciling sub-ledgers and general ledger balances, and supporting weekly and monthly netting processes with affiliates.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts including weekly currency position reports, affiliate forecast tie-offs, and reconciliation of Richmond advice listings to the general ledger.
- Ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements by reviewing invoice tax accuracy, validating input tax credits, coordinating with Accounts Payable on discrepancies, and preparing tax filings and payment vouchers.
- Support accounting operations by assisting with audit and tax reporting, preparing annual studies and reports, serving as backup for bank reconciliations, and participating in system implementations and special projects.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred
- GAAP and SOX controls experience preferred
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a publicly traded company preferred, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- SAP S4Hanna preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail; data entry accuracy in a high-volume environment.
