About the Role

Belden is continuing to evolve how we go to market, shifting from a product-led model to a verticalized, solutions driven commercial engine. We are seeking a Director, Commercial Operational Excellence, to build and sustain the regional operating mechanisms that enable consistent execution across AMS commercial teams.

This role leads KPI governance for AMS, runs the AMS regional Operations Review cadence, and serves as the primary continuous improvement leader for AMS commercial workflows, planning and facilitating kaizen events, strengthening process adherence and handoffs, improving data quality, and eliminating friction between teams. The Director will deliver measurable performance improvement by combining structured problem solving, high operational rigor, and hands-on execution.

Success in this role comes from embedding improvements into day-to-day execution through clear KPI definitions, standard work, and closed loop action management, while partnering with enterprise teams for tool enablement, reporting infrastructure, and broader change communications and training.

What You’ll Do

1. AMS KPI Governance & Performance Management

  • Own and coordinate AMS commercial KPI governance (definitions, measurement standards, accountability, action management).
  • Establish and maintain an AMS single source of truth for key KPIs in partnership with Sales Ops, Commercial Ops, and Digital/Analytics teams.
  • Lead monthly KPI performance tracking and insight generation; identify gaps, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Improve data quality and KPI reliability through standard work, governance routines, inspection mechanisms, and process controls at the point of capture.

2. AMS Regional Operations Reviews (Operating Rhythm)

  • Run the AMS Operations Review cadence (quarterly, with supporting monthly routines as needed).
  • Build crisp narratives for leadership: what changed, why it changed, risks/opportunities, and decisions required.
  • Drive follow-through via closed-loop action management (clear owners, due dates, escalation paths, and verification that countermeasures worked).

3. Continuous Improvement & Kaizen Leadership (Commercial Workflows)

  • Serve as the AMS commercial continuous improvement leader; identify, prioritize, and deliver initiatives that remove friction and accelerate execution.
  • Lead and facilitate kaizen events across AMS commercial processes (e.g., opportunity progression, solution/quote workflows, lead handoffs, partner motions, forecasting inputs, services attach motions).
  • Implement control plans and sustainment routines so improvements translate into observable adherence and measurable outcomes, not one-time documentation.
  • Strengthen cross-team handoffs and process adherence (Solution Sales, Partner Sales, BD, Global Accounts, Marketing, Sales Ops, Services, Customer Service, CommOps, PMO, Pricing, Finance, Operations), reducing rework and cycle time.

4. Standard Work, Controls & Sustainment

  • Define and improve core commercial process standards, templates, and operating guides to enable consistent execution across AMS.
  • Build sustainment mechanisms (standard work, audits/inspection routines, defect tracking) to prevent regression and reduce variation across teams.
  • Identify where tooling and automation can reduce manual effort and increase compliance, and partner with the appropriate teams to implement within established roadmaps.
  • Provide clear process content, including what changed, impacted roles, and what good looks like, to enable effective communications and training execution through established enablement channels.
  • Build executive-level materials, recommendations, and decision frameworks that support leadership discussions and drive alignment.
  • Ensure initiatives translate into clear owners, milestones, and measurable business outcomes.

Key Partnerships

  • VP, Commercial Transformation: Align AMS KPI definitions, performance mechanisms, and continuous improvement priorities with enterprise commercial effectiveness direction; share AMS insights on process friction, data quality defects, and measurable outcomes from kaizen events.
  • VP, Commercial Integration (RUCKUS Networks): Coordinate as needed to ensure AMS commercial workflows, metrics, and operating rhythms remain stable during integration-related changes; provide AMS inputs/requirements and incorporate agreed process standards—without owning integration planning or execution.
  • Change Management / Enablement: Align on timing and audience impacts for process changes; this role provides process standards, success measures, and sustainment mechanisms to enable effective communication and training execution.
  • Sales Ops / Commercial Ops / Digital & Analytics: Maintain reporting, data pipelines, and systems support; this role owns AMS KPI definitions, governance routines, and performance insights.
  • AMS Commercial Leaders, Process Owners, and Cross-Functional Stakeholders: Co-own improvement priorities, remove cross team friction, standardize upstream and downstream handoffs, reduce rework, increase speed, clarity, and consistency of standard work across the end to end commercial workflow.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • Improved KPI accuracy, completeness, and timeliness (data quality and governance health).
  • Reduced cycle time and increased first pass quality in key commercial workflows (e.g., fewer reworks, fewer stuck handoffs).
  • Increased adherence to defined commercial process stages and required handoffs.
  • Tangible outcomes from kaizen events (measurable savings, speed, quality, customer experience, seller experience).
  • Strong Ops Review effectiveness: decisions made, actions closed on time, repeat issues reduced.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial operations, continuous improvement, operating model execution, or related roles within complex B2B organizations (industrial, technology, manufacturing preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience building and running operating rhythms (KPIs, performance reviews, action management) across multiple teams.
  • Proven track record leading cross functional continuous improvement work that improves speed, quality, and adoption (not just analysis).
  • Strong facilitation skills: able to lead working sessions, kaizens, and problem-solving workshops with senior stakeholders.
  • High analytical rigor with the ability to translate data into decisions, priorities, and sustained execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to drive alignment without formal authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification preferred; equivalent continuous improvement experience considered.
  • Experience supporting a solutions and vertical selling motion and related commercial processes.
  • Familiarity with commercial data ecosystems (CRM, pipeline, forecasting, quoting) and data governance practices.
  • Background in management consulting, commercial strategy execution, or enterprise CI deployment in commercial functions.

Core Competencies

  • Structured problem solving (DMAIC / A3 thinking) and practical execution mindset
  • Influence without authority; conflict resolution; friction removal across teams
  • Metrics design, governance, and performance storytelling
  • Facilitation, change leadership, and sustainment discipline
