We are currently hiring for the following temporary position in the Innovation department at Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH, Neckartenzlingen location, effective immediately: Masterthesis with the topic "Measuring the Impact of AI-Assisted Software Development in an Industrial Engineering Environment" (m/w/d)

 

The objective of this student position is to investigate how the usage and impact of AI-assisted software development tools can be made visible, transparent, and measurable within an industrial software engineering environment. The outcome of the project will be a prototype dashboard or automated reporting solution that provides meaningful insights into tool adoption, usage patterns, and potential business value.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyze available data sources for measuring the usage of AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., activity logs, usage metrics, prompt data, and other relevant sources)
  • Define meaningful KPIs to measure adoption, engagement, productivity support, and potential quality-related effects
  • Design and implement a prototype dashboard or automated reporting solution to visualize and communicate key insights
  • Evaluate technical approaches for automated data collection, processing, and integration across multiple data sources
  • Assess the strengths and limitations of different measurement approaches and derive recommendations for sustainable reporting and governance
  • Document findings and present the results to relevant stakeholders

 

Required qualifications:

  • Student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Business Informatics, or a related field
  • Strong interest in software development and artificial intelligence
  • Basic knowledge of data analytics, data visualization, or dashboard development
  • Analytical and structured way of working, with the ability to transform data into actionable insights
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, German language skills are a plus but not required
