Job Summary:
The Industrial Safety & EHS Engineer leads risk prevention and the continuous improvement of EHS programs, with a primary focus on Industrial Safety within a manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for strengthening the safety culture, preventing injuries and incidents, identifying and controlling risks, and ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Mexican regulations, and corporate standards, while providing technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Leadership.
Additionally, the position coordinates Occupational Health, Environmental, and Industrial Safety initiatives, promoting safe, sustainable, and operationally excellent practices across the organization.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Industrial Safety, EHS, or a related position within a manufacturing or maquiladora environment.
• Strong experience in Industrial Safety and hazard prevention in manufacturing operations.
• Knowledge of Mexican EHS regulations, particularly applicable NOM-STPS standards and environmental regulations.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Experience participating in internal, external, customer, and/or regulatory audits.
• Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action systems.
• Knowledge of high-risk activities, including:, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined spaces, Work at heights, Hot work, Electrical safety, Machine safety and guarding, Chemical safety, PPE selection and management, Emergency response and fire protection.
• Knowledge of occupational health and workplace exposure prevention programs.
• Basic-to-intermediate knowledge of environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, chemical management, and environmental aspects/impacts.
• Familiarity with physical security programs and supply-chain security requirements such as CTPAT/OEA is preferred.
• Experience developing and delivering EHS training.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with EHS metrics and reporting.
• English proficiency sufficient to communicate EHS information, participate in meetings, and understand technical documentation is preferred.
