Job Summary: 

 

The Technical Director of Advanced Development Team will oversee and direct the cross functional engineering team by leading the research, design, development, test and release of new products and technologies according to business needs.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Ability to lead, coach, mentor team
  • Knowledge of embedded product design techniques and tools
  • Expert in high speed opto-electric technologies
  • Familiarity with embedded product development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • A comprehensive understanding of Engineering and Product Development concepts
  • Strong team building skills

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or another related field preferred
  • 10+ years of embedded engineering, preferably in a related field or equivalent including graduate degree experience.
  • 3+ years leadership experience preferred.
  • Hands-on product development experience including design, development, and test

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provide leadership, management as well as technical vision for entire Advanced Development team.
  • Be a subject matter expert and contribute to the development of products and technologies when necessary.
  • Develop and implement all product development plans.
  • Direct and manage engineering resource allocation, schedules, and budget.
  • Manage and oversee joint development with 3rd party vendors along with outsourced development.
  • Provide suitable decision making for product development maintaining sensitivity to constraints and business needs.
  • Stimulate hiring, training, performance reviews and career plans for engineering team.
  • Present employee development, mentoring, coaching and team building.
  • Assist removing technical obstacles, help enhance team processes, handle resource issues
  • Report on prevailing project schedule as well as progress on regular basis.
  • Supervise technology trends like emerging standards for fresh technology opportunities.

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $175,000 to $225,000, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
