Job Summary:


As an apprentice, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of our continuous manufacturing process. You will develop skills and knowledge to manufacture Fibre optic cables and micro ducts utilising polymer extrusion technology.  By joining our business as an apprentice, you will gain an apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering. As part of the apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Colchester Institute on day release, you will gain an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge), Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway. The role will report to the Operations Manager via a Shift Team Leader. We are based on Parham Airfield, close to Framlingham, as such your own transport is a necessity. 

 

You will make an impact in the following way: 
Be part of a team who will undertake a range of supporting tasks including:

  • Using your mechanical skills to undertake production engineering set-up activities.
  • Operation of cable extrusion lines.
  • Utilising industry leading equipment and technologies to acquire production data.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of tooling and equipment.
  • Ensure excellent quality by carrying out inspection of the finished products. 

 We train our employees on-the-job to learn the continuous process of cable extrusion. Once trained, you will become a valuable process technician capable of running cable extrusion lines from start to finish.

  • You must have a minimum of English, Math's and Science GCSE grades 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent or work towards achieving these as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship is just the starting point of your career with Belden. Suitable candidates would be supported in studying at HNC, Foundation Degree and Degree level to further support your career aspirations.
