Job Summary:

We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Fiber Connectivity Product Development Engineering team to support technical documentation, produce prototypes, and run tests as needed. The Engineering Technician will contribute to the design of products and be responsible for changes to drawings requested by team members. They will also have their own specialized design projects. This role will be based at our R&D center in Syracuse, NY and will report to the Engineering Manager, Fiber R&D.

 

 


You will make a difference in the following ways:

 

  • Design and modify 3D models and 2D technical drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Develop technical documents for customers, such as, product data sheets and installation guides.
  • Lead in house prototyping efforts to support the engineering and product management teams.
  • Respond to requests from commercial teams for standard product numbers creation and structuring.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers for model and design exchanges.
  • Design and improve reference documents used in product design such as: assembly procedures, test reports, packaging requirements, etc.
  • Evaluate product compliance to the industry directives such as ROHS, REACH, LEED, UL, etc.
  • Perform first article inspection for products under development.
  • Assemble and validate mechanical prototypes in the laboratory.
  • Gain an understanding of the methods of establishing and protecting intellectual properties as it relates to Belden Products.

 

 

 

What you bring:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electric Engineering, or Physics
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in 2D and 3D technical drawing in the industry
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software
  • Knowledge of tolerancing, plastic molding, sheet metal
  • Knowledge of programming on Excel and any other database
  • Understands industry standards and directives in general
  • Understands and adheres to ISO procedures

 

 

Applicants can expect abase compensation range of 51,500 - 70,000 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant#s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
