1. Job Purpose
The Solution Architect is responsible for assessing, designing, developing, and validating passive network infrastructure solutions.
The role combines strong technical expertise with a structured engineering approach to translate concepts and market needs into validated infrastructure designs. Ideas and solution concepts are developed through a defined process including architecture definition, design documentation, lab validation, and proof-of-concept testing.
The Solution Architect supports both internal innovation and customer-driven projects by developing best practices, reference architectures, and validated deployment models for passive network infrastructures including copper and fiber technologies.
The role requires close collaboration with engineering, product management, and sales teams, while also contributing to customer engagements and technical demonstrations when required.
2. Principal Job Accountabilities
- Analyze technical requirements originating from customer needs, market trends, or internal innovation initiatives.
- Translate ideas and solution concepts into structured technical architectures and documented design frameworks.
- Develop passive infrastructure architectures for copper and fiber deployments.
- Define design guidelines, installation models, and reference architectures for passive network infrastructures.
- Execute solution development according to a structured engineering process including concept definition, architecture design, validation, and documentation.
- Design and execute lab validation and proof-of-concept (PoC) activities to verify solution feasibility and performance.
- Validate interoperability with active network equipment and relevant ecosystem components.
- Document solution architectures including topology diagrams, design guidelines, installation practices, and testing procedures.
- Contribute to the development of best practices, design standards, and solution blueprints.
- Stay informed about industry standards, installation practices, and emerging technologies related to cabling and passive infrastructure.
- Provide technical feedback and insights to Product Management, Engineering, and Sales teams.
- Support internal knowledge sharing and contribute to technical workshops, demonstrations, and training sessions.
- Support customer engagements where architectural expertise or validation experience is required.
3. Knowledge & Experience Required
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, IT Infrastructure, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in network infrastructure design, engineering, or architecture.
- Proven experience in designing and validating passive network infrastructures.
- Experience with structured engineering processes for solution development and validation.
- Experience with lab validation environments and proof-of-concept testing.
- Experience working in international organizations and cross-functional teams.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of copper cabling technologies (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Cat7, Cat8).
- Knowledge of racks, cabinets, patch panels, distribution frames, and fiber management systems.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic technologies (single-mode, multi-mode, OM3/OM4/OM5).
- Knowledge of fiber connectors, patch panels, splicing techniques, and fiber management systems.
- Experience with fiber optic testing and certification tools such as OTDR, optical power meters, and link certification systems.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards, including:
- ISO/IEC 11801
- TIA/EIA standards
- IEC standards related to cabling infrastructure
- Understanding of installation practices, cable routing, cable management, and mechanical protection.
- Understanding of EMC considerations, grounding, and environmental requirements.
- Good understanding of active networking technologies to properly dimension passive infrastructures.
