The Press Brake Trainee supports the fabrication team by learning to operate press brake equipment safely, efficiently, and accurately. This entry-level role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to develop skills in metal fabrication. The trainee will gain hands-on experience in setting up, running, and maintaining press brake operations to produce high-quality parts that meet customer specifications.
Responsibilities

• Learn to operate press brake equipment to bend, form, and shape sheet metal to specification
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, job orders, and production paperwork
• Assist with machine setup, including selecting tooling, adjusting back gauges, and ensuring proper material alignment
• Measure and inspect finished parts to verify dimensions and quality requirements using measurement tools
• Support routine machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure equipment remains in safe working condition
• Follow standard work instructions, quality standards, and safety protocols at all times
• Assist in staging material, loading/unloading parts, and organizing workstations for efficient workflow
• Work collaboratively with operators, engineers, and production leads to resolve issues and improve processes
• Communicate any equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety hazards promptly


Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in machine operation
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job orders
• Familiarity with measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers
• Experience with hand and power tools used in a metal fabrication shop (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Reliable, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
