Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Plant Controller to join our team. The Plant Controller will be a key member of the plant leadership team, responsible for all financial aspects of the manufacturing facility. This role will provide critical financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and ensure the financial health and performance of the plant.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.
  • Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Provide detailed analysis of production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead expenditures.
  • Generate insightful reports on plant performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for the plant, collaborating with department heads to establish realistic and challenging financial targets.
  • Develop accurate financial forecasts and projections, monitoring actual performance against budget and forecast.
  • Explain variances and recommend corrective actions to management.
  • Cost Management & Control:
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and efficiency improvements across all plant operations.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Manage inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and obsolescence reserves.
  • Strategic Support:
  • Act as a financial business partner to the Plant Manager and operational teams, providing financial guidance and support for operational decisions.
  • Participate in strategic planning and capital investment decisions.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of new projects, product lines, and process changes.
  • Compliance & Internal Controls:
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate accounting policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor a small finance team or accounting staff.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a strong plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP,) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices.

 

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $116,900 - $135,300 CAD plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
