Belden is seeking a Sales Director that will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of a team focused on new business acquisition and the expansion of the current customer base. This role will drive sales growth by leading, coaching, and managing a team of sales professionals targeting Tier 2/3 service providers and enterprise customers. The Sales Director will develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue objectives, enhance customer relationships, and ensure the sales team meets and exceeds performance targets. The role will report directly to the VP, Service Provider and Telco group


Responsibilities:

  • Sales Leadership & Strategy
    • Develop and implement a sales strategy focused on acquiring new business and expanding current accounts
    • Set and monitor sales team goals, ensuring alignment with company objectives
    • Analyze market trends and competitive activities to refine sales tactics
  • Team Management & Development
    • Direct and support the daily activities of the sales team, ensuring consistent execution of sales processes
    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development to sales representatives focusing on performance improvement and skill enhancement
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as needed
    • Address poor performance promptly through coaching and improvement plans
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
    • Foster strong relationships with Tier 2/3 service providers and enterprise customers
    • Work with the sales team to develop customized solutions that address customer needs
    • Maintain a strong presence in the field with customers, attending meetings and industry events
  • Sales Process, Forecasting & Pipeline Hygiene, Reporting and Analysis
    • Track and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular reports to leadership
    • Ensure accurate pipeline management and forecasting using CRM tools
    • Implement best practices for pipeline hygiene, ensuring data accuracy, timely updates, and realistic deal projections
    • Prepare information for internal business reviews
    • Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Marketing, Product, and Customer Support) to optimize sales efforts
    • Produce and analyze sales reports to measure key performance indicators
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on team performance and market conditions


Required Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, with at least 3 years in a sales management role
  • Proven track record of success in new business acquisition and account expansion, preferably within telecommunications, networking, or related industries
  • Experience working with Tier 2/3 service providers and enterprise customers is highly desirable
  • Ability to prepare quarterly business reviews for key customers and information for internal business reviews
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze sales data and develop actionable strategies
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and sales analytics tools
