Provide direct process engineering support to an area/cell of the plant. Main responsibilities include reducing scrap, process variation and total production costs, improving the overall production process, and interacting with all levels of associates from upper management to the supervisors and schedulers to the operators on the floor. Specific duties include providing direct process support to the production process which includes singles extrusion, twinning, closed cabling, braiding, jacketing extrusion, and testing and electrical performance analysis. Duties also include engineering activities as related to the management of the production technology, process, methods, materials, and equipment. Likewise understanding and assisting in the financial aspects of the operations, quality building of products, packaging improvements, and sales and marketing assistance. Additionally, there will be opportunities for capital project initiation and management.
This position will report directly to the Process Engineering Manager who reports directly to the Plant Manager. This role is essentially 100% on site so there are very limited opportunities for remote work except in rare and specific cases. Infrequent travel could be required.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Possess the ability to communicate in English.
- Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
- Other desired experience:
- Reduction of scrap and implementation of corrective actions via detailed data analysis.
- Application of lean manufacturing methodology to drive overall improvement.
- Reduction of process variation by statistical evaluation of current processes and equipment and the definition of critical variables and machine capabilities.
- Documenting and maintaining process instructions that the operators use to run each product/process.
- Equipment design and fixturing for new processes and/or current equipment enhancements.
