Job Summary

Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of a staff of engineers and technicians. Estimates personnel needs, schedules, and assigns work.

Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems/methods and represents the organization to resolve important questions. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences or disciplines. The knowledge and expertise required for this level usually result from progressive experience.

Responsible for the design and development of new products through the management of multiple projects.

Responsible for at least $150MM of product including all aspects of design development, and product maintenance. Administers multiple large, complex, and technically challenging multi-functional projects over 2 – 5 Product Engineers.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Designs and develops new products through technical leadership and the administration of project management skills to assigned Product Engineers.  Assist assigned engineers with all projects related issues to assure that deliverables and schedules are met.

 

  • Maintains and updates standard product line for continued cost effectiveness and manufacturability.  Includes maintaining technical accuracy of all product data bases and engineering and sales collateral.

 

  • Identifies and implements assignments and projects to keep Belden's design capabilities compatible with new materials, technologies, and product applications.

 

  • Identifies and implements changes or additions in product testing, test procedures, or test systems that enhance the product line.  This includes tests for new transmission parameters and in-process testing to ensure completed product compliance.

 

  • Monitors industry technical standards' activities and directs participation of Product Engineers where necessary to best serve Belden interest.

 

  • Protects Belden intellectual properties and review all product designs for potential patentability.

 

  • Works with sales and marketing to identify market technology driver and to establish appropriate relationships.

 

  • Works with manufacturing to identify design improvements that increase product value by lower scrap, increased throughput, or lower standard cost.

 

  • Mentors Product Engineers in project management disciplines and related skills and tools that are prerequisite to project management to assure completion of project on schedule.

 

  • Assists Director, Cable R&D with personnel issues as requested.

 

  • Prepares input for technical bulletins, application notes, trade articles, and technical papers as required to support the product line.

 

  • Provides technical training to selected Belden customers and Belden internal functions as required to support the introduction and success of new products.

 

  • Must be capable of complying with Company Attendance Policy.

 

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or other technical field combined with a minimum of ten (10) years electronic cable design or equivalent experience. A MS/MBA combined with a minimum of six (6) years electronic cable design or equivalent experience would be desirable. Project management experience is also required.

  • Required Skills – MS Office programs, written and oral fluency in English.

Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $120,000 - $175,000 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
