Belden’s R&D Cable Internship offers current students an opportunity to work on important business projects, collaborate with experienced managers and deliver real results for the organization. Over the course of twelve weeks, you will gain hands-on experience creating real business solutions while also developing project management skills, interpersonal skills, and field-specific knowledge.  

 

As a member of our 2026 Internship Program, you’ll be fully immersed with a global team of R&D wire and cable experts eager to teach and learn from you along the way. These fast-paced, project-based internship positions are ideal for students who are interested in developing themselves personally, while also making a substantial contribution to the company. You’ll work towards goals, deliver results, and present to business leaders.

We offer opportunities to work in our Engineering facility in Richmond, IN. 

 

How you can add value within the R&D Cable function: 

  • Perform various tests and studies associated with specific projects or products to identify and resolve inconsistencies or areas of opportunity  

  • Execute various simulations 

  • Develop Design of Experiment (DOE) to determine optimal situations for studies 

  • Develop test methods, write procedure, and train technicians on new procedures 

  • Assist laboratory technicians to aid in product engineering projects

A successful R&D Cable Intern will bring:

  • Academic Achievement – you are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Polymer Science, and have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework 

  • Intellectual Curiosity – creative problem solving, critical thinking, a desire to learn and a questioning attitude will prepare you for success

  • Skills for Success – you have technical curiosity and determination as well as hands-on laboratory, materials science, and/or cable design experience

Applicants can expect a compensation range of $26-29/hour and additional incentives based on the level of the role.  This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location. 

 

Belden offers company-paid housing for the duration of the internship, reimbursement for travel costs associated with relocating to Belden from the university at the start of the internship, and from Belden to the university at the end of the internship if location is greater than 50 miles, and a work culture which includes commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability.
