Job Summary:
Join part of a small team of Design Engineers, being responsible for the design of new and existing products and to provide engineering support on applicable product lines to internal and external customers. In return we offer a salary ranging from £25,000 to £38,000 p.a. depending on levels of experience, a discretionary bonus scheme as well as 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays). The Design Engineer will report to the R & D Director and is based in Parham, Suffolk.
You will make an impact in the following way:
• Design, develop, and enhance products related to the telecommunications industry and the assigned department utilizing SolidWorks.
• Work on driving cost out of the designs of high-volume products, this includes preparing and submitting target designs and project schedules to meet cost reduction goals.
• Serve as an integral part of new product development teams and work from conception through production.
• Participate in product design reviews.
• Play an active part in manufacturing trials of fibre optic cable and associated solutions.
• Prototyping /modelling design.
• Test mechanical and environmental properties to ensure quality and reliability.
• Provide support to applications engineers in the field as needed.

Education & experience:
• Degree in mechanical engineering
• Previous design experience is preferred. However, we value ability and personality before years of experience. Knowledge & Skills
• designing and creating fibreoptic components for Fibre-to-the-Home, Premise and Datacomms applications.
• design experience in plastic extrusion and injection moulding. Knowledge & Skills - CAD programs, SolidWorks experience
