CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

Place: Olen, Belgium
Type: Hybrid, full-time
Level: Junior/Medior
As a Customs Compliance Specialist, you will report directly to the EMEA Export Control & Customs Sr. Manager. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational business of customs compliance activities in Venlo, and act as a key point of contact within the organization.
You will make an impact in the following way:
- Broker management and serving as the first point of contact for import and export-related matters.
- Managing customs master data related to origin and tariff classification.
- Requesting Long Term Suppliers Declarations (preferential and non-preferential).
- Drawing up reports, identifying potential risks and informing and advising Trade Compliance management.
- Applying export control and dual-use regulations, including screening of business partners and classification of goods and services.
- Facilitating internal trainings on trade compliance topics such as tariff classification and origin.
- Drafting and maintaining processes and work instructions related to trade compliance and customs.
- Submitting CBAM declarations (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism).
- Advising internal stakeholders on import/export declarations, risks, and practical solutions.
- Acting as a trade compliance stakeholder in cross-functional projects.
What you will bring:
- A completed Bachelor's degree, preferably in logistics, economics, or law.
- At least 3 years of experience in Trade Compliance, Customs, or Export Control.
- In-depth knowledge of customs formalities, preferably within the EMEA region.
- Relevant training or certifications such as 'Customs Declarant', 'Export Control', or 'Manager Customs &Trade Affairs', preferably obtained through reputable institutions such as EVOFENEDEX, SDU, or the Dutch Customs Academy.
- Knowledge of or experience with AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) licensing is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ERP experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English and Dutch, and preferably German aswell. Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
